Bearing Seal Compromised?

Greetings All,
When filling a hub with a grease gun attached to the zerk fitting on the end of the spindle I observed that I had pushed grease out the rear seal. I am assuming that this seal has been compromised and needs to be replaced? Am I correct?

Many thanks

That would be correct. There should be a relief hole some where on the hub or greaseable cap that is plugged. The caps I have, have a diphram that pushes out as I grease them. When enough grease has been pumped in the diaphram passes the relief hole and allows grease out. If you are not watching for this you can over grease and compromise the seal.
