Like the title says, it`s been sitting 12 years and i would like to do some prep work before firing it up. I`m a newb, and have been searching FAQ and forums to at least give the impression I know what I`m talking about. Here`s the skinney, 1973 16ft starcraft with a 1973 115hp evinrude, model #115393m. I would like to support Iboats and purchase as many parts from them as possible. My needs and questions are. 1)carb kits w/floats, fuel lines and pump were full of everything but the kitchen sink. 2) steering (teleflex roatery) takes a 800 lb gorilla to turn. Can I remove and clean, and lube, or just replace? 3) Water pump,I read somewhere that the origional housing was cast aluminum, and that there was an after market with plastic housing and stainless steel guts which was far superior, however I can not find it in the parts forum. Thank you all in advance, a great forum and execellent information. Roger

Dont know about the carbs. Cable replace it. nothing worse than it breaking while you are out and by yourself. Try steering and changing gears and accelerating/decellerating from the back of the boat without a tiller handle. Its tough to do. Dont ask how I know :) Water pump housing, unless you run in a lot of sand, the original style is just fine. IMO. The stainless and chrome is made to reduce high wear generated by debris like sand.....David
