To " Admiral, Pontoon and Crazy charlie.

1971, 21' Chriscraft, 302 ford engine, Series R out drive.

Thanks for all your help to date. I've got the out drive off, seperated the upper and lover units, replaced the water pump, impeller, oil seal etc. in lower unit. Replaced the water pocket in the drive housing, cleaned, inspected and greased the u-joint. I'm ready to replace the bellows and gimble bearing. Before I go any further I was thinking of replacing the bell housing gaskets. Is it easier to replace gimble bearing while the bell housing and gimble ring are removed and then replace bell housing gaskets?

Once I'm through with the out drive my next step is to pull the engine and rebuild. Should I wait for engine before I look to replace Bell housing gaskets, gimble bearing etc.

Thanks for all your help and direction, Dave

IF you have a Manual, You'll see the Engine Has to be Removed 1st, When replacing the bell housing gasket.....
gimble bearing can be replaced Any time in the operation.....
