Bellows adhesive?

I have just had both bellows on my Cobra SX 1997 drive changed and unknown to me at the time the mechanic has not used the sealant I provided him to do the job.
I have confronted him and he says it will be OK but I am thinking not so, does he need to strip them down again and apply sealant?

Don't know about the SX,but on older Cobras I don't recall sealant being mentioned in the manuals.Never used any.

Re: Bellows adhesive?

Even on mercruisier the bellow adhesive is to fixture the bellows while tightening the clamps not to seal the bellows

Re: Bellows adhesive?

On MerCruisers, I use Power Tune on the driveshaft and shift cable bellows. It lubricates and stays liquid for up to an hour. ( Bellows adhesive sets up too quickly. ) It slightly softens the rubber surface which bonds very nicely to the metal a few hours after installation. I only use bellows adhesive on the exhaust bellows. On Cobras, same minus the shift cable bellows (which they don't have).

Power Tune was made for decarboning the cylinders, but is also excellent for cleaning stubborn carb varnish and for installing hoses. Many will attest to how difficult MerCruiser hoses are to loosen the first time a new boat is winterized. It's like they use some kind of glue. It's Power Tune. ( Shhh. That's a little factory secret I was told. Don't tell anybody. ;) )
