bellows change on 290 and up

On the 280 it says chane drive bellows each year and on 290 and later it says every other year. But it also says remove entire drive to do so which I have found out from this site is not needed. What is the accepted change time on the 290 and up drive bellows? What is the change out time for the exhuast bellows? Does it need a regular change or just when drive is being worked on and it is bad?

The first thing I need to ask, is where are you reading this info from? Owners manual, service manual? Is it OEM or aftermarket info.

Basically, I recommend to my customers every other year on the ujoint bellows. When the exhaust bellows start showing cracks or falling apart, then replace them during scheduled maintenance. They are not an item that failure will cause damage.

I only reccomend changing them when they fail and cause a U joint failure.
means momma gets new shoes.
actually, every two years.
its quick simple and mostly painless.
DonS is getting old and no longer needs the money .
