I have 2 questions>>>
#1- what type of paint (other then bottom paint) can I use below the waterline on a trailered fiberglass hull???
#2 what should I use to seal hardware used below the waterline???I need to install my new fishfinder transducer, and don't want to ruin the transome wood. I don't care much for silicone>>>would Boatlife caulking or 3M 4500 be good???
THANKS

Re: Below Water line???

I am not sure about the paint but as far as sealing the transducer goes I used 3M 5200 for mine 3 years ago and it has been fine.

Definitely use 3M 5200 for any openings below the waterline. As for the paint on your fiberglass hull , you might want to check out a gel coat kit and forget the paint. Very hard to find paint other than bottom paints that will hold up below waterline. Hope this helps, RR

Re: Below Water line???

The best paint for below water line is one of the special epoxy primers, that holds water out far better than gel-coat. All boat producers calls for this threatment at mooring to prevent against osmosis. 2-3 layers of paint and your done. Follow all instructions on cans.
