Evening All,

I am doing a tune up on my engine this week (VP 4.3GL with SX-M outdrive). Standard tune up, plugs, wires, dist cap and rotor, oil, etc. I was going to replace the belts and was wondering if there's any reason I can't get belts from the auto supply store rather than Volvo/Penta?

Thoughts? Opinions?

Thanks in andvance.:D

Re: Belt Question

No problem. Just take old one to napa or any large store. Make sure the old one fits perfect. The width is important also.

Re: Belt Question

I'm not sure how old they are, which is why I want to change them.

I just bought this boat (2001 Four Winns Horizon 180LE) and don't know what the PO did and did not take care of. So, I'm doing a service just to give me a little piece of mind. The boat looks and sounds to be in good shape, but I guess I would just like to be sure.

Re: Belt Question

I guess peace of mind has a value...But again , my belts have been spinning 15 yrs longer then yours and they still not glazed, cracked or fraying. IMHO...Boats are expensive enough to own without throwing money at unneeded parts. But, I guess I would feel bad if ya didnt change em on my account, had a belt related breakdown, and got ran over by an ocean liner...:eek::D
