Last week, with advice received here, I replace my thermostat and it seemed to fix my erratic overheating issue but, this week the main belt (crankshaft to multi pulley to water pump) belt broke. I am looking to replace all belts as well as the bearing in the multi pulley (sorry, don't know what it's called but the other belts run off of it - idler maybe?). There has been a high pitched whirl coming from that area when the engine is first stated and now, with the belts all of I can feel the bearing is a bit rough. I have the belts off and see I have to pull the front engine mount to get on the main one. Not fun but I think I can handle it unless someone has some input on "the easiest way to do this." My main question is replacing the bearing on the multi-pulley. I have the pulley off but the housing is still bolted to the engine. What is the best way to proceed? Will I need a special puller? Can I even replace the bearing or do I have to get the whole housing. I can't find anything in the book on this nor much online. The config. on my volvo penta 3.0 is 3 belts, one from the end of the crank around "multi pulley (to power it) and to the water pump, and then one from the multi pulley to the power steering and another from multi pulley to alt..

Thanks for any input or help!

Tim
