i am not sure if this is the right section to post this in.

anyway i have bennett trim tabs that came with the purchase of my boat bennett V351.
it is leaking fluid at the little compression fitting nuts (nut/ferrule) my boat is at the marina all shrinkwrapped and stored so i cannot size the lines up or compression fittings.

does anyone know if i can just grab the nut/ferrule compression fitting at the hardware store? what diameter line am i supposed to get the for? thread size? it is WAY to expensive for me to buy online anywhere as shipping and currency exchange is crappy for us canadians. someone have a link to a canadian store for bennett replacement parts?

When I did mine I just used 1/4 inch ferrule from the hardware store and it worked just fine.

^^think that's right, but mine is shrink wrapped too and can't get at it. I was getting a little leaking two years ago, and just tightened the existing ones down a bit -- have not had any issues. All dry.

If you send me your name and address in a private message we will be delighted to mail you two, no charge. It will take a while to get to you, but you will have them in time for spring!

Howdy,

Yes, those fittings are just "normal" brass fittings. The pump doesn't produce a whole lotta pressure........

Mine leaked too. ........ when I replaced my pump, I removed the plastic hoses and replumbed the entire system using copper tubing.

Bennett is one of the best companies out there! When I called them asking for parts to rebuild my pump......... They sent me a NEW pump at no charge. I bought the boat from my brother and the pump was probably 10 or 15 years old when I called them.

I don't know if they would do it nowadays but I'll definitely put Bennetts on my next boat!!

Regards,

Rick

i love the idea of using copper tubing! would be very nice and easy to route the tubing in such a way like you can with brake lines. i will have to try that idea!

I've had copper on mine for about 10 years. Hasn't leaked a drop!

I don't know the manufacturing history (and not a whole lot of experience with tabs). My '80 Trojan F26 has the copper lines, and they seem to be original. Maybe you can scavenge an assembly with copper lines -- hull in the back of the boatyard, something like that.
