Bent stainless Dual Prop - can I fix it myself?

Hello,

I have a set of volvo stainless dual-props and the back prop has a small bend on the end of one of the vanes. I have attached a picture of the bend. I can send the prop off (Murphy's in VA) to have it fixed, but since it is only a small bend I was wondering if I could just bend it back. Any suggestions? Send it off to have it fixed or try something myself?

Thanks

Tim

I'd send it to a pro for repair...high price prop to start hammering on!

Ayuh,.... You can try it, 'n see what ya think,...
But,...
Without the pitch blocks they have at a prop shop to beat the blade into,...

Ya really don't stand a chance at gettin' All the blades, the Same....

Thanks for the responses. Looks like I will send them off instead of trying to fix it myself.

Thanks

Tim

Definitely send it to a prop repair place if they are a Good prop repair place. Wilmington Propeller in California is one of the best in the country if you are planning on shipping anyway. Might as well use the best.

You can't do something like that yourself. Each blade has to have the exact same pitch or you will have vibrations and damage your drive.

ALL propeller, including stainless are cast. you get ONE bend. If you try to remove the bend in one step, you will break off some of the blade. If you have never done this before you have a choice: You can try and if you do snap off some metal the prop shop can repair it as good as new--but it will cost more. OR: you can go conservative ans let them do the repair.
