Just wondering what other hobbies keep you busy in the off season? I keep busy doing custom model train super detailing and painting in the New Haven railroad colors. I am also the president of the largest and oldest model railroad club in Ct. I also do alot of photography and collect old railroad negatives. All right let's heard 'em ...Ted

The home theater and that cursed invention, the DVD. Also do the home renovations and repairs that got put off due to boating. Work on the truck doing mods or repairs. Sometimes I'll build a model of something from scratch, but not often. Try to do as much cross-country skiing as I can, but after plowing snow all day I am too tired to, and the snow sucks on the days I am not plowing snow.

Hunting keeps me going in the winter time but usually by the end of February I have Cabin fever. Then I start to hit the Shows, boat, camper,sportsman, etc... Love to go camping and do that a lot when not boating and fishing. after 15 years in Scouts really enjoy going on a hike and sacking out over night on the AT (Appalachian[sp?] Trail) Home owner so I guess you could say the other hobby is working on the house.

I have played guitar for 17 years.....been in and out of bands for 16 years. I have a 280 gallons of fish tanks I maintain. Cichlids mostly (Oscars and the like) :) <br /><br />Oh man I so want to go hike the apalaitian trail jgregory.....some day I would love to try to thru hike from start to finish.....Wife even says she would support me doing so. Just dont have enough guts yet.......someday......

I guess I am an oddball aside from fishing I realy don't have another hobby. Perhaps you could include taking the kids and wife places so they can learn something and be exposed to a lot of the right sorts of things. Other than that i lead a pretty boring life but then what do you expect from a guy who lives where he can fish year round?

<br />I had a 25' sailboat 'til a few weeks ago and loved to spend time at the boat. I do stained glass, wood projects, try to keep up with my wife, the gardener's, list..... Mostly my 11 yr old daughter keeps me on schedule with school, activities.

A lot of woodworking, a little ice fishing and alot of movies. mikeand rhonda how many tanks is that your keeping. i used to have 20 tanks. all set up it was a big job. i think it added up to over 600 gallons. had two 125, a 70, a 55. and a 40 gallon long. plus numerous 10s and 20s. <br />had chiclids, salt water, reef tabk all the way to guppies and mollies for feeder fish. really got to be a job. i am now down to one tank. 125 with native wisconsin fish in it. getting ready to switch over to something else tho. not sure what. i always did like the africans. but was thinking of some angels this time. really want some discus but i never kept them and i am thinking they can be pretty touchy. and i am not sure i want to start spending that much time on my tanks again. sure is a great hobby tho.

At the end of boating season I'm usually most-interested in how my OSU Buckeyes are doing. They have been in the most exciting games this year (a double-overtime win for the National Championship Jan. 3rd, a triple-overtime win with NC State this year, and an OT win with Purdue last Sat). The Michigan game is coming up next, and promises to be another 'barn-burner'! With all this excitement I've had the paramedics on stand-by for me on football Saturdays, lol! After college football season ends I generally go into a 'funk' that won't go away until next boating season arrives.<br />That's my life: Boating & Buckeyes!<br /><br />Oh, and, of course, my wonderful, beautiful wife (she's reading this over my shoulder, hehehe)

Here where I live its (when my body lets me) fishing until hunting season then get things put away for winter,then clear snow until april, then its fishing season.Before I got Rhumitoid Artheritis I bought old motorclcles and fixed them up.I might try to do another one if i ever run into a good (cheap) deal,I am now on fixed income.

Hobbies, past and present (past, meaning I don't do it as often as I used to, but still dabble), besides boating/sailing:<br /><br />Family/kids activities (18 years), home improvements & maintenance (20 yrs.), automotive maintenance and performance(25 yrs.), guitars (25 yrs.), guns (all 41 of my years), fishing (same), hunting lodge maintenance & improvements (20 years), painting (more acrylics than oils) (15 years), homebrewing (10 years), mr-fix-anything (or at least try) from TV's and electronics to garden equipment.<br /><br />I know there are more... too many hobbies has always been my curse.

I have a little project going, I don't know if you'd call it a hobby, but I guess it's becomming one.<br /><br />I bought a "1994 Lotus Esprit Twin Turbo" about 3 years ago, that I'm trying to get ready to put it on the road.<br /><br />The only problem with the car when I got it was that the car had made head-on contact with a bridge abutment at high rate of speed!<br /><br />The front bumper was against the firewall!!<br /><br />I got a whole front clip when I purchased this car, but I have needed other parts, like the windshield, in order to continue.<br /><br />I have done all the frame work and have the new clip ready to install, but I need the windshield to set-up the rest of the car.<br /><br />I ordered that windshield a year and a half ago, and I finally got it last week.<br /><br />Them English aren't the quickest!<br /><br />Nor are they cheap!!<br /><br />$2300.00 for a windshield is a little crazy!<br /><br />Also need other parts and they are on order from England, but now that the windshield is in, I can make alot of ground on this.<br /><br />Now all I need is time away from my chores around the house to work on it.

Those Lotus are sweet cars. Had the highest horsepower per liter of any production car. Is yours the 4 cylinder or the 8 cylinder (I assume 8 because its a twin turbo)?

Hey Fshkpr right now to be honest Im in the process of tearing down my tanks.( a 75,55,2x40,30 and asorted 10s and 20s)I used to have close to 600 myself. We are moving to Missouri and to be honest we have alot of fish sooooooo right now im trying to find any stores that will take them.we have big Oscars so the smaller stores dont have room and the bigger ones dont seem to interested. We aint got no friends with anything bigger then a 30 gl. so Im not sure what were gonna do. Fish fry maybe :D

<br /><br />I like to go skiing with girls, going out for dinner with them, sporting events usually go well with them, Cooking for girls is a blast!<br /><br />When I am not doing any of the above, I have a golden retriever who requires almost as much attention as any one girl, and a 94' Ford Bronco that is more expensive to keep than one.<br /><br />PRAY FOR SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm with you FSHKPR , Woodworking is my main hobby. But I do like photography, Hiking, Camping, but mostly wood working. I'm in the process of building a kingsize solid cherry canopy bed.<br /><br />here is a pic from this weekend.<br />
