best 23 ft boat under 30 grand new or used.

my uncle is looking into getting a 23-25 ft walkaround boat under 30000. currently he is liking the features of the proline 231 from 96-98? any other boats have that platform that doesn't take up so much room on the deck?

I am quite biased towards my 1988 23' Wellcraft CC (Fisherman model). It is a solid, well built, good riding boat. Were I looking to buy a boat today I would look for one just like it with crappy motors and slap a new 225 on it. I now have a couple of 1987 1.6L V4 Sea Drives.

yah those are a little older than what he's looking for. but i actually think he had a similar boat to that years ago.

I'm quite sure you can find a decent used Whaler in the size and price range you mentioned.

If I was in the market for new and in that price range, and I couldn't get a Shamrock (which I would prefer but can't touch for that money) I would look hard at the MercPanga and I would go with the deisel I/O. I also forgot to tell ya, they MercPanga is made in florida.
