Re: "Best Buffer/Polisher"

Makita a little on the high side for price but very reliable. I have been working at a Nissan dealership for the last two months and watched (even tried it myself on my own car) it in action.
You just have to be VERY careful not to burn off the finish. Takes practice and a soft touch, let the machine do the work and DO NOT apply pressure.

Makita 9227C 0-3000 rpm variable speed about $195 on line. http://www.autobodystore.com/compound.htm
It definitely has the power and is easy to handle.

Bob

Re: "Best Buffer/Polisher"

One thing I can tell you from past experience is to stay away from the Craftsman buffer/polisher because of the thread size on shaft of the machine is odd.. I can't buy good backing pads that fit and nobody makes an adapter.. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking Craftsman tools in any way... BUT.. Think I'll look at Dewalt or Milwaukee next time.....

Just be sure to get one with plenty of power. It's frustrating to have one keep stalling out. I use a polishing pad on my right angle rotary sander and it works well.
