Best buy for hardwood flooring?

Looking to install some pre-finished hardwood flooring in a living room and dining room. I have bought some engineered hardwood flooring from Fast Floors a couple of years ago, but I thought it would be prudent to check around for price vs quality again.

This time, we are going with classic 3/4" tongue and groove pre-finished hardwood in (probably) a light maple. Will be renting the nail gun, and plan on installing it myself.

Brands we are looking at for our budget are Bruce and Armstrong, trying to keep the price as close to $4 a square foot as possible.

Any suggestions for retailers is welcome!

Thanks,

Mark.

I haven't purchased anything from them but take a look at http://www.lumberliquidators.com/ They seem to have a fair selection of 3/4" solid maple around the $4.00 range. There may be a retail store near you depending on your location.

On my way out to price out cork for the kitchen. I'll be replacing the hardwood in the living room and dining room when that's done. Let us know where you end up.

We purchased 3/4' prefinished red oak, with a dark finish from Menards. It was not a big name brand. I don't remember the price (can't remember anything anymore), but it was around $3/sq ft. It installed very nice and did not have any bad pieces.

Would definetely use it again.

Make sure you have a good air compressor.

i build a few houses a year and we always buy from lumber liquidaters. I just bought american cherry 4 inch by 3/4 inch for 2.69 a square foot. Be patient and look for good deals on clearance.

If ya got a Habitat Restore close, ya may want to check them out. Inventory comes and goes and doesn't last long with prices, at least locally, over half of retail.
