No idea, but I don't care about the lowest price I just want to know if I claim was to be filed it would be paid without minimal problems.

I know a few posted issues with insurance companies so figured I'd just toss a thread up and see who most people like to go with.

In Iowa, you wouldn't be able to beat American Select Insurance company, a division of Westfield Insurance Company. Sold through independent agents only. Their physical damage specialists receive training second to none and are VERY good at their jobs. Their policy is also a yacht policy, with only a very few (I think 6) obvious exclusions. It has no depreciation on repairs and is an agreed value total loss policy. Quite simply, one the most boat owner friendly policies out there. And it's priced less than most ACV policies.

Big Disclaimer, I used to work for Westfield Insurance, an a Material Damage Specialist ( I adjusted/appraised car, truck, boat, heavy truck, farm equipment, etc damage claims.), but left on bad terms in 2005. However, I kept my boat insured with them until I sold it in the fall of 2008. What's that tell ya?
Second Disclaimer, my brother-in-law is the President of Claims! ;)

Re: Best insurance company thread

you like good service.

Westfield has great service, and a great price, when it comes to boat policies. Their auto insurance isn't priced the best, but again their claims service is second to none in that area too. Always has been. Before I started there, before my brother-in-law started there.

I have my cars, boat and motorcycle with Progressive. Best rates I can find, and I'm extremely impressed with their customer service. I do this on their website, not thru one of their agents. 99% of the time I can manage my policies on their website, but they are super easy to reach on the phone if I need personal attention. They have a regional claims office here in my area, too.
I have not filed a claim on my boat ever, but they were very easy to work with when my son totalled his car, and when my car needed an engine replace due to an unfortunate deep puddle incident.
They worked with the mechanics, paid without squabbling, and were overall just great to work with.
That's been my experience, anyway.

I too had good service through Progressive when I lived in FL. I had a auto accident, and their damage appraiser was at the scene and estimated the other lady's car and left before the highway patrol showed up. When it comes to auto claims, they sure do know what they are doing and are fast about it.
No experience with their boats, though.
