best motor oil for 4.3?

just changed the oil in the boat and read after i got done that your not supposed to use synthetic oil is this right?

I and all my friends will only run mobil 1 oil and filters in our boats.. you only need to change it once a year,well for most of us anyway so price is not a problem! I prefer chevy over ford too lol.....

I like Mobil 1, but think it is overkill for my boats. I ran Quicksilver dino this year. I had it laying around...
