1988 Bayliner, 5.0L OMC, King Cobra. Has OEM Michigan Wheel, 3 blade, 14.5", 19 pitch alum. prop. Want good hole shot and top end (who doesn't). I got around 45 mph at 4500 RPM with three on board in lite chop, I think I can do better.

Thinking of similar style prop but for some reason I think I'd like a bit more cupping. The current one has some dings and it will be a great spare. Brand? Alum vs. Stainless? Any suggestions.

Re: Best prop for 5.0L OMC

Id be looking hard at SS if you want the best of both worlds...
By the way, the MW isn't OEM..that would be aftermarket, which is fine.
Your max RPM (recommended) should be around 4800...we turn our 5.0 atleast 5000, and have turned it 6200 set up for skiing.
I'd shoot for 4800-5000 with a normal load..that may mean going to a SS in a 17P but I wouldn't go any lower than 4500.
