I have a 96 Seaswirl 230 Cuddy with a Volvo Penta 5.8 FSI (EFI) and Volvo Penta SX outdrive 1:66 (single prop). I am still trying to id the Mfr's WOT. (With my now-defunct alum 3X15X17 R prop), the hull did not seem to be fully on plane until almost 4300/4400 rpms. "My" WOT hit 5100rpms with this prop. It came slow out of the hole and until nearly WOT, it did not maintain a "level" posture on the water. My speedo (water wheel) did not function this year out of storage. I do not currently have trim tabs, and may consider them. That said, can I get some solid advice on whether I should replace the old prop cofiguration with a more appropriate alternative? Suggestions on how to use such a change to tweak the hull attitude, plane speed and overall speed in that order? We are not big skiers or tubers, I want the boat for pleasure cruising, lake camping and the like. I would like an effecient combo if possible...
