Re: Best prop for top end?

It kinda doesn't work like that, you prop an outboard for rpm and speed works out to what it is.

Too big of a prop and you lug the engine, bad, to small of a prop and you overrev the engine, really bad.

Foils and tabs are to correct handling problems so if your boat runs fine as it is don't get either, don't know how much difference either would make with only 10 horse, might actually slow you down.

Mount the motor as high as it will run without cavitating.

You can try a foil or tabs but it might be money in a hole.

Re: Best prop for top end?

Usually the antivent plate(just above the prop) even with the bottom of the boat is considered a starting point you can add strips of wood on top of the transom to the starting point test and add 1/4 inch at a time to a point just before venting(cavitation) becomes a problem.Be sure it pumps water and clamp has a good grip. You will need to find out what size prop you have (probably on the barrel of the prop).Get a tach and find out your max rpm and speed.A tinytach is reasonable, easy to install and will fit any similar motor without regard to stator poles.A GPS is easy for speed. The 9.9 is rated for about 21 mph stock on a light fast boat.Once you have your setup and get us your specs a prop selection may get a little more speed.
