best service/repair manual 4 beginner

'72 merc 1150, have the seloc manual which covers<br />all 2 stroke 6cyl, 90-300hp from '65-'91.<br />is there a more specific manual for this motor?<br />does anyone make an easier to understand manual?<br />with so many variables/different models covered,<br />this manual is kind of confusing.<br />if they don't publish a "idiots" guide to outboard<br />motors, someone should!!!

Other alternative is a factory manual from your dealer or someone on line.....<br /><br />Kev

Clymers makes a variety of manuals, but they are fairly similar to the Seloc manuals in my experience.<br /><br />A factory manual covering your exact motor will be harder to come by. As suggested by Kev above, you could start with your local dealer, failing that you could give Ebay.com a try.<br /><br />Good hunting!
