Best speaker location on CC

I'm installing a head unit with two 6 1/2" speakers on my 23' center console boat. I've noticed that almost all center consoles seem to have a speaker mounted on either side of the console pointing outwards, but it doesn't seem like it would be the best location for the best sound.

Where would yall recommend I install these speakers? I would prefer to not have any big bulky boxes hanging from my t-top, but also want to have good sound. Thanks.

TX,

Think about where you will be most of the time, as well as the passengers in your boat. Box speakers come in all sizes, some relatively small. My neighbor mounted two small box speakers on his electroncs box hanging from his T-top. They sound great aft, but not necessarily the same fore.

I mounted two 5.5" speakers on each side of my center console. They can be enjoyed fore and aft in the boat.

In either case, don't expect to hear them over the roar of the outboard running.
