Ok, I guess this is somewhat 'boat' related...<br /><br />I want to sell my 2001 (2150)Bayliner Capri. <br />As soon as my ocean boat project is done, I doubt I'll even take my Bayliner out very much.<br /><br />When do you think would be the best time of year to sell?<br /><br />Thanks,<br /><br />H.

Re: Best time to sell a boat

On a rare sunny 70 degree day in late March, when spring fever sets in on people with fresh income tax return down payments in hand... but that's just my marketing strategy. :D Every boat I've ever bought was in late summer, but it never made much sense to me why I chose that time of year.

I've always heard that March - June is the best time to sell a boat.

Spring is the best time to sell, <br />late fall is the best time to buy.<br />In my opinion.

Ditto Moose and Boatingfool.<br /><br />Just the opposite of the stock market. Sell when the temp is rising, buy when it is falling.

Re: Best time to sell a boat

Thanks everyone.<br /><br />I really hate to get rid of the boat, but I just don't see myslef using it much.<br /><br />When I went out on the ocean for the first time, I just didn't realize I would love it so much. That feeling you get when something makes you comfortable and happy and 'in place'<br /><br />Call it an over-sight, I guess I should have waited on buying the Bayliner. It works great for the local lakes for skiing etc... <br />But then there's fishing... Kinda like the new car you don't want to scratch!<br /><br />I'll put it up for sale in the spring. It should fetch a good price, as it is practically brand new.<br /><br />Thanks,<br /><br />H.

Re: Best time to sell a boat

I first priced my last boat in the spring, but didn't buy it until the following November. Saved almost $10K. Then I put up a boat for sale. Didn't sell until April. Therefore, the advise given above is absolutly true! In our area, the boat shows are in January, but the brokers tell me that, although everyone gets excited, they actually don't make most of the sales until 2 months later.

Mike! You named a boat after your wife and then sold it? <br />I've found that not many people sell their boats in the winter so the market is bare and has very little to choose from. People who want a boat will pay a good dollar because there is so few others for sale. In the spring, everyone thinks this is the time to sell because of the 'fever' so there is a lot to choose from. If an offer isn't accepted the buyer will simply move on to another one of the many. I say there is no bad time but you may get a few extra bucks when there isn't many others for sale. That's just my opinion.

No...I still have the "Rebecca Ann." I was referring to the previous craft. But if I ever did sell her (the boat  ), I'd have to name her the same....
