best way to check for spark

What's the best/easiest way to check for spark on my 1980 50hp merc?

DTB,<br /><br />Remove a spark plug.<br />Reconnect the plug wire to it.<br />Hold the sprak plug against a metal part of the engine.<br />crank the engine.<br /><br />If it is working, you will get spark across the gap. Blue spark is good. Orange spark is not so good.
