I have a Bendix ZenithUSA B175-60 Flame Arrestor on my I/O engine. What is the best way to clean it?
Thanks in advance,
Joe,

Have no clue what a Bendix ZenithUSA B175-60 Flame Arrestor is but most can be cleaned with regular automotive parts cleaner, or even diesel fuel, then blow out with compressed air.

agree with don

i use parts cleaner, then run it under hot hot hot tap water, it will flush out excess parts cleaner, then blow out with compressed air

for heavily soiled flame arrestors, i have used merc power tune, it eats away all the grime from years of neglect, then flush with carb cleaner and blow out with compressed air

Throw it in my parts cleaner, wash it out real good, let dry.

The film that gets on the fins is mainly crankcase oil, bits of rubber from belts and dust. I'm sure a cycle in the dishwasher would do a good job, but the missus might get upset to find black specs on the silverware.

I have done it with gasoline, then soap/water, then air, and also with strong detergent, water, air.
