I recently acquired a very nice freshwater-only metal OMC fuel tank complete with Fuel Line, bulb, 2 fittings and about 1 quart of old fuel. This is a Model 3 (Belgium-made?) vintage I thought around 1998. Although CSA Sticker on the tank shows 2389 (would this be Date Code 23rd week of 1989?) The fuel is at least a couple years old and had about 6 ounces of water in the bottom (I determined this by emptying the tank into several glass jars). I have
I am concerned that old fuel remains in the fuel line below the bulb, in the bulb and above the bulb. What is the best way to clear the Fuel Line and Bulb of any old fuel? There are 4 crimp connections that I would prefer to not destroy . One obvious way of course is to cut the crimps and replace with 4 hose clamps, although I would prefer to not do that, then blow out the Line and bulb with compressed air.
Any good tricks/tips on this? Is there risk in using this Fuel Line and Bulb even if I don't see any signs of deterioration?
Thanks in advance.
