Re: BF130A fuel pressure

Don't have manual in front of me but high pressure pump output should be between 40 and 50 PSI. I am working on a 2003 BF130A and could not attach fuel pressure guage due to tiny metric plug. How are you measuring pressure - this is upgraded fuel pump with no banjo fittings to fuel rail.

Re: BF130A fuel pressure

I have the small metric fitting that goes in the high pressure pump by the filter. My fuel pressure was 65 psi. This motor is giving me hell. I have been though every part of the system except the injector rail. The problem i am having is major loss of power, hesitation, bogging and an occasional backfire. I got it running pretty good yesterday then drove it home, shut it off went out to restart it and now it fire but dies instantly. Im gonna start from over from the begining and hope i missed something.

HI,

65 PSI makes me feel that your gauge is not calibrated or else the pressure will not be so high. Or else your pressure relief valve is not working. Remove the three 10 mm nut of the common rail and pull it out with the four injectors on it
Then ask some one to crank the engine and make sure all the four injectors are spraying fuel and none are blocked, ensure the spark plugh is also working.

What are the general health stats on this engine, like compression, valve adjustment, use history, etc.Remember there is a huge recall on this engine that can offer up some these exact symptoms so you need to find out if these upgrades have been done if needed.I hope you have not ignored the high pressure filter on the vapor separator.65 psi is high for this unit but guage calibration could well be an issue.Fuel quality is also a huge concern lately as the ethanol blends we are forced to consume are a magnet for moisture.
