One of my two bilge pumps will not shut off even when there is no water in the bilge. My rocker switch also indicator light is also on even when the rocker switch is in the off position. The only way I was able to turn off the pump was to disconnect two wires on a common wire terminal connector. I am note sure what brand pumps I have because both of them are so far down between both motors. They are red in color so I am assuming they may be Rule. Looks like one of the float switches may be stuck causing the automatic function to stay on?

Re: Bidge Pump

one pump is probably wired directly to the battery via the float switch which is why its showing running at the dash light. No easy way to fix other than to find it and fix/replace it.

Found the problem. There was a piece of plastic that looks like a bottle cap that got lodged underneath the float lever causing it to stay on continuously. I ran some water into the bilge and the problem I am having now it to find the bottle cap that conveniently floated away and now I can't find it. With two motors side by side and a 24 degree dead rise it is too far down for me to get my arm extended down there. On Sunday I am going to lower my trailer jack so that when I again fill up my bilge with water hopefully the cap will float toward the front of the motor so that I can then try and get it out of there.

I miss the good old days when bottle caps were metal.

My wife had a little pole with a trigger that put a couple fingers together to reach high objects. Don't tell her it reaches low objects too. Would not like her to find it on the boat,,, must remember to buy her a new one-- one of these days.
