It appears to me that there may be a problem with the fuel pump 435352. I had a problem with a pump pre 2009 that had the check valves pop out of their housing and it happened again in a pump purchased in 2009. It seems mighty strange that two pumps that I purchased both popped the check valves when the 3 bought before didn?t. I could see one check valve to pop but two ??? I tried getting a check valve out on an old pump and it took me several minutes using an ice pick to remove the retainer plate off. What could cause this to happen on a pump that delivers less than 2 PSI ?? It is also strange that Evinrude has stopped making this pump without offering a replacement.
Surely Evinrude is aware of this problem, why are they silent?? I have written several forums about my problem and have not received an answer. It is my understanding that several different motors made by Evinrude & Johnson use this pump in 9.9 hp & 15 hp motors. I think the very least Evinrude could do is to offer a replacement part after making a s******* part.

Any resolution on this topic? I have the exact same problem. (Engine Model E15EVL4SSS) I am considering Mac Gyvering something to keep these valves in place with either glue or something to wedge between the valve and the housing but I don't really like either of these options because you never know when this will catastrophically fail and I use the motor in the open ocean. Also I am not sure what adhesive would stick to the plastic and not deteriorate in gas. Maybe the housing could be melted around the keeper but that will be problematic if I ever need to replace the valves.

roehrle please share what you found out.

I may just try to bend the tabs a little to bite into the plastic better and hope for the best.

That pump is listed as no longer available, with no replacement indicated. I believe a call to customer service is in order, as previously suggested. You may have to do some creative engineering to make another pump fit. Fortunately, it isn't rocket science.

Those 4 strokes are a " classic example " of parts listed as NLA for newer motors.-----It is easier to get parts for some motors from the 1960's it seems.
