Hi the big red plug on my boat's control box has two vacant holes in it. One big and one small. This is pretty usall for most big red plugs The male plug on my motor has only five pins and when plugged into the controller's plug, one of the big pins goes into a vacant hole. I was just wondering whats up. why the deleted holes in the boat's plug? is there a contol that has all wire holes filled? The motor in question is a 1979 evinrude 35hp. Any help will be most appreciated. Thanks.......Robert ps. when started it won't shut off

Re: Big red plug question

My guess is that they use the same mold with different color material for different applications, and that those holes would be used in those cases.

Anyhow, the black wire with yellow stripe is the kill wire. Also requires the black wire to ground it to.
