Bigger is always better, right?

An actual post, in its entirety, from my local fishing board:

Im no good w/ electrical stuff...

Its a Rule 500 GPH 12v takes a 3 amp fuse. Last summer started popping fuses- i've stuck all the way up to 10amp fuses in there- they keep blowing- pumps for a bit- then quits. any help appreciated.

the poster has been advised to inspect his fire extinguishers............

assuming he is talking about a bilge pump last i checked they were cheap enough the he probably has more in fuses by now
