Bigger Motor Size on a Rib

Hello guys i am about to buy my first boat a 14' Inflatable that i want to take to Baja Mexico.

I've been searching for days a motor for this boat. The max capacity is 40 HP according to the boat manufacturer.

I found a really really nice clean Johnson commercial series 45 HP motor for a really low price.

What would be the problem of adding a motor 5 Hp bigger than the Max?

I am not worry about cost guard or insurance since this boat is going live in mexico forever.

I wouldn't worry too much about it if you are going to be in Mexico. If the motor is a two stroke, its lighter than a 40hp four stroke anyways...which is what you boat is rated to hold. Have fun.

you really want to find out how much motor weight the boat can hold,
if it's max is 40hp then a merc 4-stroke 40hp dry weight is 216 lbs.
A yamaha 50hp 2-stroke is only 189 lbs, and the 70hp is 228 lbs. so the question is not whether 5 more hp is a problem, is 8 more lbs a problem.
