Hoses (plural) on the port side? Tough for me to be sure without being at the boat, might be OK. Offending vapors can accumulate in the lower part of bilge when boat is not at cruising speed (assuming all venting set up correctly). Blower is intended to generate that ventilation when boat is not moving through the air briskly (at "cruising speed"). Blower hoses are part of that system.
Ayuh,.... The forward facin' clam shell blows fresh air into the motor box, 'n the aft facin' clam shell should have the blower, 'n it's hose suckin' air outa the bottom of the bilge,....
Its more of a height issue - as long as the suction intake is near the bottom of the Bilge to pull out fumes that are HEAVIER THAN AIR you should be OK.
On a larger boat with 2 fans they often do have 1 on each side but on a boat with 1 intake either side is OK.
A few inches from the very bottom to keep the intake above any water that can collect in the bilge is OK

Consider opening the engine hatch for a once over (using nose too), before starting it every time
Crownline's don't have cowls or vents like that. On mine it is 2 intakes on the side and one exit just above the swim platform on the back. On a 266br the side covers should have the intakes behind them.
