Any one else using a blige blower to vent the bilge? Ive got a 4" blower motor mounted below deck and the thing is obnoxiously loud. I am curious if all are supposed to be loud or if mine is unusually so- and in need of being replaced.

Any feedback on ho damn loud these things should be is much appreciated!!!

Jason

Elvis,

They can be noisy.

They are also very inexpensive. If in doubt, replace it. You definetely need it.

I believe most i/o boats come with a blower. It's to vent any gas vapors that could explode. Rule is a lot better quality than Attwood...IMO.

Oh sorry, I had to re-read your post. Mine was *very* loud, sortof like the Jim Carey 'most annoying sound in the world' thing. The shaft on the motor was loose and vibrating loudly. Like I said, Rule makes a better blower. They're only about $22 or so for the 4".

My bilge blower... and my computer fan have both gotten noisy before. A little drop of 3 in 1 oil on the bearing / bushing has quieted them both down. I think manufacturers leave them dry so you'll have to replace them more often.
