I finally used my first bottle of Bilge Cleaner. This stuff smells awfully close to the Wife's dish soap!

Is there a connection here?

Can I just use a good 'ol fashioned bottle of Dawn for $2.99 or just keep paying the $8.00 for 'Bilge Cleaner' ?

I'm also looking for a ski mirror. Strangely enough, my local shops don't have any. Even if they did, I'm sure the prices would be summer inflated.

I've found plenty on the internet, but which one should I get? It needs to fit my rounded windshield (1.050")

I really like the CIPA Comp mirror. I found it for $50.99. Has anyone used these? How are they?

Thanks,

H.

Re: Bilge cleaners and ski mirrors

Read somewhere I think it was in Field and Stream that a way to save money and clean your bilge w/o working hard is to purpously leave/get water in it before you leave the boat ramp add dish soap and drive home. The dish soap cuts grease and such, the drive gives it a sloshing washing action and when you get home all you do is pull the plug and rinse. Not 100% sure if it works or not but i have used dish soap to clean all sorts of things that expensive cleaners are recomended for so I bet it will work just fine.

That's what I think it is, or close to it.

The stuff I usually get is called 'Automatic bilge cleaner'...You dump it in, and let the boat's action do the rest.

It smells just like dish soap.

H.
