Hi Guys,

It is feasible to fit a bilge pump that is not in the bilge?

Before you call me stupid, my pump has failed and we would need to remove the engine to replace it.
I wonder if there is an option to fit a pump in the engine bay with a pipe to the bilge and outlet as original?

Just an idea that could save me a lot of time and money.

Makes sense to me that this should be the setup anyway.

It'd be great to get your feedback.

Absolutely.... You will pay a lot more for the pump tho. Jabsco 36600 Belt Driven Diaphragm Bilge Pump - ITT Jabsco 36600-0010

you will still need to secure a strainer under the engine tho.... Look long and hard.... You don't absolutely HAVE to remove the old pump.

In the past I have bent up a peice of stainless steel plate to mount the pump under an engine.

Secure pump to one end... Attach hose and wiring.... Slide plate and pump into position and secure other end of plate.

Thank you for your help Pal. Really helpful.

I went out on the water yesterday and the pump started working!

Not sure what's going on but let's see how long it lasts.

Sounds like a loose wire. Make sure you test that puppy before every trip. Be safe.
