bilge pump questions

ihave a 88 lowe pro angler bile pump works but will not pump water out of the boat. the bilge pump hole is under the motor is there a check vave or something else tha opens uo when the pump runs an suggestions would help

the motor is turning on, but the impeller probably is broke or spinning on the motor shaft and not pumping water or the polarity is connected backwards and the pumps spinning backwards and it wont pump water that way either...

I had the same problem once and it turned out that mud daubers had built their home in my hose. I knew something was wrong because I couldn't pour water in from the outside.

I have pulled it out and checked the wiring it pumps water thru it, but i tried a fish tape thru the hole in the back and it wont go thru but like an inch it looks like its some sort of plug on in the inside of the transom but i cant tell

Well, then... there's your answer. Remove the plug and see if it doesn't work better. There's nothing special about that line; no check valves or anything else. Yours has been modified by unwanted guests.
