Bilge pump

Looking for help with a bilge pump,i have a small 14 1/2 foot fishing boat the previous owner installed the pump on the transom with a tube about 6-7"long to draw up the water,the problem is the pump runs but wont draw up the water i am thinking the pump is not strong enough to draw the water up those 6-7".For the time being i just placed the pump on the floor near the transom and the pump works fine,i am thinking of perhaps just leaving the pump on the floor.Thoughts.<br /><br />Thank-you<br /><br />Gord

You mean a tube on the suction side of the bilge pump? You're right, that won't work. Just leave it on the floor.
