Bilge, ski locker question

Ok so there is the devider from the bilge area to ski locker with the 3/4 hole so it can drain, my question is do I plug the hole when the boat is in use or just leave it open? My thoughts are if I was to take on water it would stay in the bilge area and be pumped out but with the hole open it would flood the boat, so what do you guys do?

I just leave mine open all the time. The ski locker area is the same thing as the bilge area. I figure when the boat is in use the bow is often higher than the stern so all water in boat can drain to the stern through that hole.

It's called a limber hole, and it's meant to remain unplugged.
