A few days ago my wife gave me the infamous Bill Dance sunglasses. As I read all the miracles these rays were suppose to do I noticed in the lower right corner in small print the words''MADE IN CHINA". Here is a guy who promotes American products but its made in China. Rumor has it that he comes from Texas as do the Dixie Chicks.......

Needless to say I emailed him at carlton@billdance.com to let him know how I felt about his home grown projection when in reality he is using countries that hate our guts and what we stand for.

In the email I placed a ShoaFin curse upon him. It may be a forgotten plug or a lost tournament fish due to the Fin from above looking down on him with disfavor.... To remove this curse I in formed him that he must do the following

1. must log into iboats (free advertising for the Admin.)and seek redemption with the 21,000 members at iboats.

2. to seek favor with ShoaFin from above he must donate some door prizes to our upcoming annual get together.

3. That to get full redemption he must bring the sacrifices in person and join us for some fishn and lieing.......

I doubt if he will respond but I gave you the email where I went in case you folks may want to add to the curse that is upon him and some items he may want to bring.....I wonder how much fishn stuff we buy is actually made in the USA....Just a thought....

1. Bill Dance is from Tennesee
2. Most all sunglasses are made in China
3. I like Bill Dance, and also look up to Bill Dance, and have learned alot from Bill Dance.
4. There are more fishing products out there that are endorsed by other famous fisherman, that were not made in the US
5. I am seriously pissed that you put Bill Dance in the same catagory as the Ditsy Chicks.

Re: Bill Dance....Unamerican

Nathan I'm sorry to have ruffled your feathers on your Bud Bill Dance. Its better to be P....d off than p....d on. I sent him an email mostly in jest and to add some seriousness on going overseas to help promote child labor and taking advantage of lower wages their instead of promoting home grown status as he wishes us to think. Are you saying that the American laborer has to take a back seat so folks like him and others can turn a higher profit.

I watch his shows and sometimes buy his products. But I will from now on check fishn items to see if they are really homegrown and if not i will not purchase any fishn products that stands against the USA.

Am sorry about the Dixie Chick slam but I stand pat on all else I have said. I guess in your mind he is as good as American pie and the girl next door synrome.

Re: Bill Dance....Unamerican

i called in an opinion on local radio the day it was reported. i stated that since they apologized, i'm ok with them, but they should've known better than to put down our administration - especially overseas.

i don't feel any pity for what they're going through, nor any pity for anyone putting down our administration. i'm just venting at the moment. i do understand not agreeing with certain political views and such, but i show my distaste at a voting booth instead of acting like a whiner by putting up banners or publically protesting and flaming.

i would no more get up and publically protest clinton being a sex fiend ignorant of his public position, than to bash someone who is his fav supporter here. i get irritated at whiners and flamers though. saying someone sux is diff than saying someone who called them a dufus must suk. and i might eventually go after someone who is a flamer, but not quickly ;)

now that i've vented, as this thread started out with, i'd hafta say that ole bill dance is ok. he just needs to sell all american made stuff. we do have to import to expect to be able to also export, ya know.... imho :D

Re: Bill Dance....Unamerican

Thanks Sb for the correction . JB I'm much better today and thanks for putting things right.

Wasn't trying to stir things up on Bill Dance, just that I never realized how much tackle is not home grown. It just irks me that so many companys go overseas so that thay can turn a bigger profit while unemployment is so high here.

Nathans reverence for Bill reminded me of another professional fisherman many years ago who was taping a show on reality fishn in the North Woods. Unbeknownst to him he to was also being videotaped by a resident who lived on the lake.

Seems to be that he brought his arsenal(fish) from another lake. He would reach into the livewell hook the fish with a lure he was promoting then proceed to reel his trophy in. Needless to say for many years he was the talk around many campfires. He still is around and some of you older folks may remember this story.

Today none of that is going on but fishn shows make it look so easy. Hours of tape are shot just to get that 15 second shot of a certain trophy to promote a certain lure.

Personally its the person behind the pole that decides if he has a good day with the experince he has learned over the years.....

Re: Bill Dance....Unamerican

No problem GF, but on the subject of pro fishermen, they still do that to a certain degree.

Those that live around Tifton, Ga. knows about the WMA's down there and the one called Paridise.

It has been a place where many a shows have been filmed.

Strickly a non-live bait lake/s, there are different lakes with different fish in them.

You can go there and have a blast at whatever you want to catch.

Some lakes have bass, some catfish etc. and no live bait is allowed and if you want a fight, catch a 15 or 20 pound catfish on a spinner bait. :D

But, yea they have been known to tape a few shows on them.

I also seen one time on a fishing show that was taping a catfish segment, while they were shooting, they went by a sign that said Big John's catfish farm.

A dead give-away for sure.

Re: Bill Dance....Unamerican

Bill like the rest of us buys Americian when he can and elsewhere when he can't or the price is much cheaper. It is the way things are done. I try to buy Americian made but when you see an Americian made product that costs twice as much as it's foreign counterpart you sometimes can't help but buy it cheaper.

Re: Bill Dance....Unamerican

Well got a reply back from Carlton.
Here is what he had to say.

Lester:
September is a very busy month for us. I doubt we can work out these dates, but will advance this message to Bill.
Thanks
Carlton
Lester wrote:

I was interested in getting Mr. Dance to do a personal appearance for me at an upcoming get together that I am planning for September 27th. and 28th. at Lake of the Ozarks. It is for a group I belong to that has some 20,000 members from all over the country and elsewhere, like Canada, New Zealand, Australia and Africa. It is a boating and fishing group.I just thought it would be a pleasant surprise for them if Bill could show up and maybe talk to us about his career and/or some tips for fishing in general.Maybe promote his show and/or causes that he represents. You can check our group out for yourself and see that I am speaking the truth and am serious about this at www.iboats.com
Thanks and I hope Bill can help me out here.
Lester Wright
Oh well, I tried. :D

Re: Bill Dance....Unamerican

Opppps----SB if he does respond might let him know that my email to him and the shoafin thing 90% was in humor and 10% serious. Ill send you the email I sent to Bill if you want. Ifn I hadn't got those rays I never would have realized how much tackle that is sold is born else where.

Never realized that until I took a stroll in Wal-Mart yesterday.
This Bill Dance thing was taken out of context. If you were reading into what I was trying to say it was no slam against one person ,he just happened into my political urrrr in life when I got the rays.

Maybe I'll take a back seat on this Sept. rondo. I wouldn't look good in tar and feathers.
