Re: Bill of Non-rights

i didn't post in the forum on 'what happened to plywoody' on purpose.

i guess JB was insightful on his take there, it sure does provide fodder for others to speak their minds'.

i think ralph is on to something with that 4th comment ;)

i like the post rogerwa - good job. i thinks its urban legend, but still nice to remember. peace

Very Interesting. As much as Plywoody is claiming this as emotional right wing rhetoric, look at his post and decide if he is guilty of left wing rhetoric.

Call it what you want, but this post connects with me because I believe and live every point. I am sickened by the lack of accountability and the ever present attitude that there will be somebody there to clean up the mess.

Some of my favorite examples:
- Flicking cigarrette butts out car windows
- Abortion
- Suing Mcd for getting fat
- Personal bankruptcy
- etc..

I am just curious as to which 'Articles' are so disagreeable? Taking each one, minus humor, and tell us if you disagree.

Re: Bill of Non-rights

Geez, I sure see a lot of anger, envy, and fear in all these posts. It is amazing. Why is everyone so fearful, I wonder? It is an unhealthy way to live, in my opinion.

And frankly I don't really care what is in my neighbor's trash, no matter what socio-economic group they belong to. It is none of my business, and it is a full time responsibility of mine to take care of my business-not worry about someone else's.

Now if the welfare office is handing out vouchers to purchase $3,000 TV's, that is a different story, but somehow I doubt if that is true.

I have no problem with the right wingers believing the way they do--I just wish they would run for office championing the notion of dismantling what little social safety net there is in this country--rather than what they do which is springing in on the public in a surprise move.

BTW, California was a sad case. They devised the worst possible deregulation scenario they could have ever come up with. (Under republican leadership, prior to Davis, BTW) They were required to divest ownership in powerplants, and then by law they had to publish their projected power needs in advance. It was a long complicated program, but it amounted to giving traders all the information they could possibly need to manipulate prices.

But they were always told that they could go to FERC if there were problems, and when they did, FERC told them they were on their own--After Kenny Boy's buddy, Pat Wood, was installed as the head, only to have FERC come out, years after the fact, and say "Oh I guess they really did manipulate prices"

Kind of like parking your Mercedes convertible in the inner city with the top down and the motor running, leaving a few dozen donuts at the police station, and then leaving for a few hours. It is hardly surprising that it gets stolen, perhaps, but it is still against the law.

Re: Bill of Non-rights

The short answer is no. Why would you think that racist? I am curious.

Anyway, I will tackle these one by one:

Article 1: TV: Just a few short years ago, welfare reform was passed under Bill Clinton that Newt Gingrich called the crowning achievement of his tenure as speaker. This claim about TV's is just plain silly.

Article II

The world indeed is full of idiots. The guy that wrote this is a natural leader of this group. I can agree with this one.

Article III

While I do not have a guarantee of freedom from harm, I have a right of a reasonable expectation that a product is suitable for its intended use, and I have faith in the justice system and the courts to separate the wheat from the chaff in this. I have a right to my day in court- I tust our judicial system, and I don't need some politician telling me what is or isn't right.

Article IV: Free food and housing, and health care. Again, we just a few short years ago, passed welfare reform. What more do you want from these people? Pass harsher laws if you can. That is what the legislature, and elections are for. If you can't pass the laws, don't whine about it in silly "Bills of No Rights" garbage.

Article V Free health care: This is a curious one. On the one hard, he complains that we give away too much to welfare recipients, and in this article he uses the example of the nasty state of public housing to show that we don't want to fund it. Which is it? I am confused.

And of course, the white middle class has access to health care generally--who else is important?

Article VI:

Killing or maiming someone. That is why we have laws, and police forces, and courts. I am not sure some politician spouting from the sidelines like some leviathan with PMS adds all that much to the discussion.

Article VII: Stealing: Ditto to article 6

Article VIII

Right to have a job. This is America, and I have the right to chose my own path, as long as it is legal. And again we passed welfare reform not long ago. What else do you want? It would of course be nice if our national leadership did not adopt economic policies that cost the country 3 million jobs in just a couple short years, but that is just wishful thinking, I suppose.

Article IX:

Pursuit of Happiness. So which are the idiotic laws that limit us? Or is it the constitution itself. You are a politician. Get support and change them if you can, and stop your soapbox whining.

Article X:

English speaking. I pay my taxes, and I will speak any **** language I want. It might just be handy for Americans to learn another language or two, just to get a feel for how the rest of the world thinks about things. We might even learn something. When I was recently in Finland, I talked to recent school graduates, and all were required to learn and be fluent in 4 languages in school. Finnish, Sweedish, English, and the 4th of their choice. It sure has not seemed to hurt them.

Whining, I don't hear any whining, unless you count the vitriolic banter of our favorite socialist. BOHICA

The main post was not drivel or whining, more like an expression of opinion. You should know intimately what opinions are like..

Re: Bill of Non-rights

Aw come on now plywoodie, if you did as stated in your post, ("QUOTE" --->Kind of like parking your Mercedes convertible in the inner city with the top down and the motor running, leaving a few dozen donuts at the police station, and then leaving for a few hours. It is hardly surprising that it gets stolen, perhaps, but it is still against the law.) and the vehicle was stolen, or set up on blocks and stripped and the wheels gone, who would you have expected to have stolen and/or stripped it????  In this day and age there is no one left in the inner cities, but blacks, immigrants, and the police, and you have bribed the police with the donuts to leave it alone. :D :D :D :D :D :D

Re: Bill of Non-rights

Now by golly you might well be a racist. I think there are lots of different folks of all sorts of different races that live in inner cities. The crime rate statistically tends to be higher, though. There was absolutely nothing racist in anything i said. Good try, though. I do realize it is difficult to come up with any sort of logical arguments to my statements, and that you have to take your shots when you think you can. Keep trying.

Oh, and that original piece may be opinion, but it is designed to enflame a specific audience. There was not one opinion that was defended by anything but emotional rhetoric, nor could they be. It clearly worked, judging by the reaction. Which, from my point of view, is sad indeed.

Nice comeback Plywoody! You were able to turn the tables and make Lakeman, et al., the racists. Bravo! You are truly a good liberal right down to the oldest liberal trick in the book. Barvo! Bravo! Bill Clinton, James Carvil, Begalla, all the boys would be so proud of you. You should run for congress - you're good at the game...

Just deny the facts call you popnent a racist for stating them and then say you did it just to inflame the racists... what a hoot you are...

The car thieves down here like easy targets also, but they don't really care how well it is protected. If they want your Mercedies, you loose.
It will generally be found just east of I-75, exit 142, torched to the ground.
The usually set fire to them. I'm amazed at how well the modern automobile is devoured by flames!
Plywoody, you need to go back and edit those "articles". They don't relate to facts (except for one)...And like a good instructor, I will let you find which one. But you best do a little research. BS is quickly exposed as such, and goes nowhere here.
