I just got a hold of a Stamas with a full bimini.(I am a new boater by the way, very new)
It was out in the elements for some time.I looked it over and for the most part it looks good. It looks like it has a heavy grade canvas. The problem is that my friend was setting it up and pulled a little to hard on it makeing a small rip near one of the corners.
1- How can I repair this
2- Is there anything I can do to recondition it ? It seems a little dry.
It seems good for the most part. I will take care not to over strech it in the future.

Re: Bimini repair

Take it to a tent manufacturer/reseller they have repair kits and a liquid to treat that stuff, some boat outlets may have the same...

the best repair is a stitched repair, but may not be necessary, there is one kit that uses a glue of sorts to stick a patch over the rip.. (on whatever side is less obvious..) then you buy a tin of this stuff you paint on the canvas, it will reseal and protect it against UV damage..

Ask the tent people, they are usually the most knowledgeable when it comes to canvas.

my bimini is not canvas its some sort of thick treated vinal, so I have a completely different method of fixing it.

rgds

Frank
