I was looking at putting in a bimini top on my 16' jon boat. I'm not sure of the length I should get though. The width i'm good on but I would like this thing to be able to cover me in the back while I driving but then when I fish off the back be able to fold halfway up so that at least some of the boat is covered.

Can anyone help?

You are the only one that can determine that. I have installed several. On one occasion I got the length that would fit between my bass boat fishing chairs. That way you could fish fore and aft in the normal fashion and still have your cover.

One thing you may consider is sliding supports for the canopy. You could have that and 2 sets of anchor points, fore and aft of the canopy. When doing one thing, slide it out of the way and anchor it. Doing the other, move it back. Only takes a minute to move it.

I had thought of doing that myself, but then started measuring things. It would completely block the oarlocks, making the oars unusable. After sitting in one the ability to fish would also be hampered. Then I actaully SAW one on the water. UGLY is an understatement!

I think iboats had them when I bought my bimini from them. I have a set and don't remember going off looking for them. On the bright side. When I received my top one of the bows was smashed. It was obviously done at the factory since the box had no damage and all the bows were right together.

I called these guys and 2 days later, UPS special delivery, had not only the piece smashed, but the whole bow. Service after the sale is excellent.
