Bimini Top

I recently purchased a 2002 Edgewater 175CC. The boat came with a factory installed bimini top. The orginal owner stated to me that it had never been used, which I tend to believe because when I took the boot off it still had the warranty slip attched to the top.

When the top is extended it is not tight. I mean that the middle of the top sags and the middle bar actually will touch the top of my head and I am not a tall man. I notice that the main stainless steel rods are curved and think this may be the problem but they are curved identically on either side which makes me think that they were not curved by accident.

I was at an Edgewater dealer earlier today and noticed that on the 2004 models the main rods are straight.

Anyone out there have any experience with these top or thoughts on what I can do?

Can I bend the rods straight and if so how?

Any comments are welcome.

Re: Bimini Top

You probably do not need to bend the bows. Most that I have seen have one or two short bows attached to the main bow. These short bows can be adjusted up or down the main bow to get the tightness you are looking for. Also check the tightness of the straps and adjust as needed.

Re: Bimini Top

After reading your post I thought that would solve the problem, however after I look at the top, I realized all of the connections are riveted in place. There is no way to adjust them. Anyone familiar with the bimini tops from Edgewater that care to comment?

OK after further inspection and measurements, I am sure that the bows are bent. Any ideas on how to bend them straight?

Thanks
