Looking to buy a bimini top for my 92 Bayliner Rendezvous 2609. The original top and hardware was lost by previous owner due to the boat being in a boat house on a lift all of it's life. Seems it wouldn't fit in the boat house with the top on so it was removed. The boat stayed in the boat house for the last ten years and as fate would have it, the top was lost.

The problem is the boat is not a traditional set up. Neither a bow rider or a pontoon. I am not real sure what type top to get. Any body have ideas or suggestions. Should I buy one for a pontoon or a bow rider. The boat has high gunwales.

Re: Bimini Top

When you think you have everything figured out, think about where do you put it when not in use. Sometimes that gets to be a real pain and it is "in the way" all the time. Also in locating the deck mounting for the frame, the bows are only so long and when stored will only reach so far. Keep that in mind when you locate it and plan on support from another part of the boat.

One thing I would certainly investigate is the vertical storage...where poles are mounted to the deck to supoort it at a 30ish degree angle. I think that is a really neat idea and other than trying to cast when fishing, it is totally out of the way when not in use.

Thanks for the advice Mark. Never set up a Bimini before or had much experience with operating anything but a factory unit. Looking to get an 8 ft unit though.

I never ran one braced up in the air, but having fought the stowed location on every one I ever had, thing is always in the way. Vertical storage sounds like a great concept. I think Tahoe boats for one uses the concept. Might have a look see to see what it looks like. There will be some wind drag but so what.

If they don't sell them on here look at #377820 or 271380 at westmarine.com. Less than a hundred bucks.

I would check out trailering requirements. Might need to do something with it to clear things like filling station overheads. Probably noted in the instructions.

208 - Best bet me thinks is to take the boat to a canvs shop and have one coustom made to your requirements. A custom top is not really must more expensive than ordering an already made that may not be what you really want.
