After rebuilding my carbs and reinstalling on the engine a new condition developed. I tried to start the engine but it would race off into overspeed and I would have to shut it down. I would get no rpm response to backing down the thottle control and had to shut the key off. I rechecked everything and the proplem presists. I didn't take anything apart related to the throttle/timing control levels while removing and rinstalling the carbs. What am I missing here?

The butterflies on your carbs should be completely closed at idle. Sounds like something in your sync and link is binding, holding it open.

Howdy Joe. I agree with OMCTech.

Your throttle plates are not round, they are oval. If you removed or loosened the throttle plates during the overhaul you may have misaligned at least one on reinstallation.

Been there, done that.

Good luck.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

I found the restriction in the throttle control cables. They were forcing the butterfly open .... :)

I runs good now....

Thanks to all who replied to my post..
