Got a boat from the coast and I am using it around 3000 feet. It seems to running super rich (very wet plugs, lots of smoke, real boggy). Just wondering if anyone has a jetting chart or knows what mains I should be using at this elevation? I think I want to jet it down but I am not sure how far to go. Need a chart or shop manual to check.

It is a 1992 Mercury Black Max outboard running a 4 blade 15 pitch Solas prop.

I had thought that stock jetting was good until 5000 feet. Of course Hurricane Sandy got my service manual, so I cannot be sure.

Yeah they very well could be. I am just looking for a reason for the bog. It will ramp right up in the driveway but put a load on it the motor has no get up and go. I have tried prop changes and carb cleaning and was hoping jetting might be an option. I haven't checked compression yet as I am kind of afraid of what I will find.

Check compression. don't throw parts/props whatever untill you check that.
