Black Thru-Hull Fittings for Below Waterline?

While doing a lot of work to my bass boat over the winter, I thought it would be a good idea to replace all the thru-hull fittings, since the majority of them are probably over 30 years old. However, I can't seem to find any black thru-hull fittings that are approved for use below the waterline, only plastic fittings.

Does anyone know where I could find some black ones? I know they can be painted, but I was looking for ones that were already black, simply for durability's sake.

I also noticed that one of the fittings below the waterline on my boat is definitely just a plastic fitting and not delrin, etc. Are plastic fittings actually alright below the waterline on a trailered, freshwater boat?

The plastic through hull fittings work fine. I prefer stainless steel, as it will take a pounding and not crack like a composite or plastic fitting can.

Look at the stainless fittings by Attwood. They are generally investment cast stainless, and very economically priced. I've used them myself in salt water and can highly recommend them.

Hello Mack and welcome to Iboats..

For that one in a million chance that some debris will hit a plastic fitting dead on and break it.. I would also suggest using a metal through hull fittings below the water line.

For me it's either nikel aluminium bronze or 316, 317 stainless steel.
