Black wire on trim cylinder

I have a 1977 70 hp Johnson and need to know what the black wire is for and where the other end goes.<br />Thanks,tom

go to parts and purchase the seloc manual for your engine and start reading it cover to cover its enjoyable reading and you will find it very helpful in the future

Its been years since I worked on one that old, but I believe the black goes to the ground, anywhere that it gets a good ground. The blue wire is up and the green wire is down when powered.
