bleeder valves question

hi have a 04 90 hp merc 2stroke. having prob with idle motor shakes (new prop)wot runs great.rebuilt carbs new plugs fresh gas.some one told me to check the bleeder valves.pulled them off and good bit of gas came out of hose.blew through valves ok .check valves ok clear.should there be that much gas in there?

You have a, three and a half inch bore cylinder, (they idle rough). By backing it off, it will smooth out the hit, from TDC. And once you advance the throttle, your wide open throttle timing does not change.

NOTE. you can only do so much with this model engine to obtain a smooth idle.

i have had this motor for 4 years now never shook like this.i will try that see what happens.do u know about the bleeder tubes should they have alot of gas in them? tks

There sould be a little fuel but not a lot..you check bleeders when engine is running, remove hose and if spray from bleeder is not a fine mist (like hair spray) or dribbles out bleeder it is restricted. You cannot accurately test by blowing thru them...

that would be hard to do that since u have to remove the oil tank and starter.when i took off hose gas poured out.
