In the process of replacing a solenoid on my trim motor, have the motor out of the boat and the hydraulic lines disconnected. Bought a quart of trim fluid (hope its enough) and plan on completely draining the reservoir as it is contaminated.
Did a little reading, and apparently all you do is operate the up/down on the trim to bleed the lines. My question is, where do you disconnect the lines? At the outdrive? I thought the pdf file I read said to take them off at the reservoir; that doesn't make sense to me. And can I do them both at the same time, meaning the line that operates the "up" function along with the "down".
If anybody would point me to some sort of write up on this it would be great.
One other thing, I read where these pumps are self-bleeding to an extent. Could I just reconnect the lines, exercise the pump up and down and be done with it?
